 Sustained winds of over 78 mph destroyed many roofs around the DC Beltway on March 2, 2018.  The Emerson's home was heavily damaged.

 First,temporary "tarping" was carefully applied to prevent further water damage ...

 New CertainTeed Landmark Architectural Shingles are expertly loaded to the rooftop by crane.

 After removing the existing shingles down to the OSB roof deck, the new architectural roof is being applied.

Upgrades from the existing builder's shingles (25 year) and 15# tarpaper include:
  • Upgrade to 6" custom drip edge at all eaves (gutter edges)  
  • Upgrade to "Ice & Water Barrier" at all gutter edges, valleys, and around penetrations 
  • Upgrade from organic 15 lb. tarpaper "felt" underlayment to synthetic underlay 
  • Upgrade from builder's shingles to CertainTeed Landmark Architectural Lifetime Shingles 
  • Upgrade from builder's grade metal ridge vent to High Performance Shingle Vent II Ridge Vent System. 

Color: Landmark "Moire Black"

 The combination of our 1) Custom 6" aluminum drip edge, 2) 3' wide Ice & Water Barrier, and 3) SwiftStart starter strips protect the fascia from  potential water damage and rot.

 Step-flashing was upgraded in areas under the vinyl siding to prevent leaks between the wall and roof deck.

 Custom formed siding grade aluminum was manufactured by us on-site to replace wind damaged rake coverings ...

 The New Shingle Vent II System will naturally circulate more air through the attic, and will also:  
  • Stabilize the attic air temperature with no extra energy cost.
